Homeschooling with Joy
Saturday, March 7th 9am-12pm
6040 Wilson Blvd, Arlington
Scholé center for innovative education presents
A free conference for local homeschoolers
We are so excited to welcome you to our second conference for homeschoolers local to the DMV! We envision a day where homeschooling parents can learn, rest, and connect with other like-minded families in the area.
This conference will be short and sweet, affordable, and open to all homeschooling (or homeschool-curious) parents in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Infants are welcome, but we ask parents to make alternative arrangements for older children in order to facilitate a day of focused learning and conversation.
keynote speaker
Arielle Rondon, LPC
Compassionate Approaches for Building Frustration Tolerance
Students, whether in a homeschool setting or a classroom setting, often experience difficulties with frustration tolerance and perfectionism during their educational journey. These challenges can be magnified for children with exceptionalities, who are gifted, or who are twice exceptional. How can we, as parents and educators, help them to build resilience and self-compassion?
Arielle Rondon, a Licensed Professional Counselor with the McClerren Group, will present the conference’s keynote address, entitled “Compassionate Approaches for Building Frustration Tolerance.” She will discuss strategies to help children and parents develop frustration tolerance, behavioral therapy skills to enhance self-regulation, and suggestions for how we can model these skills as educators.
